Summary This position is with the VISN 12 Great Lakes Finance Service (GLFS), located at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, Hines, IL. The incumbent serves as a budget analyst for the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center and or Hines VA Hospital. Responsibilities Major Duties: Knowledge of budget and finance regulations, procedures, and processes for budget formulation. Analyze and compare selected object class and line item obligations and expenditures. Determine whether funds are being used on a timely basis to support the medical center's mission and objectives. Writes brief factual reports that detail the purposes for which funds were obligated and expended. Apply, commonly used budget and finance principles, practices, and methods. Estimate funding needs and requests for allotments are in line with program plans. Analyze and evaluate changes in program plans and funding. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/31/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: Experience with budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, precedents, and policies which apply to assigned organizations and programs. Experience analyzing budgetary relationships and developing recommendations for budgetary actions. Experience evaluating the effects of continuing changes in program plans and funding on the accomplishment of the budget and program milestones. Experience with automated data processing concepts and system capabilities to accomplish budget functions.
