Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a high-tech engineering organization in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This contract opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist who is comfortable working in a corporate environment and supporting essential financial operations in a hybrid setting. The position focuses on accounts payable, journal entries, general ledger activity, and month-end close, with the potential to transition into a long-term role.

Responsibilities:

Manage full-cycle accounts payable activities, including reviewing invoices, preparing payments, and maintaining accurate vendor records.

Prepare and post journal entries to support routine accounting transactions and ensure timely financial reporting.

Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain the accuracy of accounting records.

Assist with month-end close by compiling supporting documentation, completing account analyses, and meeting reporting deadlines.

Collaborate with internal departments to resolve invoice, coding, and payment issues in a structured corporate environment.

Maintain organized financial records and support compliance with company accounting policies and standard procedures. Requirements - Experience in staff accounting or accounts payable within a business environment that values attention to detail.

Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable, and month-end close processes.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills in handling financial transactions and discrepancies.

Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel for reporting and account analysis.

Comfortable working in a hybrid schedule and adapting to a structured corporate setting.
