Staff AccountantKansas City, KS | Hybrid Schedule (3 Days In Office / 2 Days Remote)
Are you an accounting professional with 2-4 years of experience looking to grow your career with exposure to large-scale capital projects, financial reporting, and strategic business initiatives? We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join a collaborative finance team supporting capital and lease accounting activities within a dynamic corporate environment.
This position offers the opportunity to work with project accounting, month-end close processes, financial reporting, SAP, and advanced Excel reporting while partnering with multiple business units on high-profile projects.
What You'll Do
Support capital and lease accounting activities, including month-end close and financial reporting.
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and project spend analyses.
Track capital project spending and maintain actual versus budget reports.
Create and maintain internal orders within SAP and SharePoint.
Review, code, and approve invoices related to capital and strategic projects.
Monitor project budgets and prepare spend reports for leadership review.
Process fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, and lease-related accounting transactions.
Collaborate with Accounts Payable, finance teams, and business stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payments.
Participate in quarterly project reviews and support project closeout activities.
Maintain process documentation and support internal control initiatives.
Assist with ad hoc reporting, financial analysis, and special projects.
QualificationsRequired
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
2-4 years of accounting or finance experience.
Experience with:
General ledger accounting
Account reconciliations
Journal entries
Month-end close activities
Financial reporting
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
SAP experience.
Capital project accounting experience.
Experience tracking project spend against budgets.
Exposure to fixed assets and lease accounting.
Experience working with large datasets and financial reporting tools.
Understanding of internal controls and accounting compliance practices.

Pay and Benefits
