Summary This position is located within the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. The position exercises a full range of supervisory responsibilities in planning, directing, and assessing work of subordinate staff. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience includes operating laboratory equipment including centrifuges, analyzers, and automation lines according to established procedures; applying knowledge of specimen requirements and processing procedures for in-house and send-out laboratory tests; creating or implementing staff development, education, and training; establishing and ensuring performance measures are met by employees. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. -OR- EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: One and a half years of graduate education that is directly related to the work of this position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. Applicants will be required to complete a Supervisory Situational Judgment Test (SSJT) as part of the assessment process for this position. Assessment results may be used as part of the evaluation, ranking and referral process. This is not a timed test, however, the assessment is expected to take approximately 45 minutes or less to complete. The assessment for this application does not include a cut score for a minimum level of required proficiency in these critical general competencies. However, you must answer each item in the assessment. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
