ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
Supervise public health nursing programs under the direction of the County Nurse Manager by collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data to evaluate program implementation and outcomes;
Ensures high-quality patient care and adherence to policies, procedures, standards, and regulations;
Provides direct patient care to public health clients in the home, office, and community setting;
Provides leadership, training, and direct supervision of nursing staff;
Plans, implements, and evaluates services based on community health needs;
Assists County Nurse Manager with local nursing agency budget;
Collaborates with local and state response coordinators for effective public health preparedness and response.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference will be given to applicants with work experience in public health nursing or similar nursing experience; with three years of professional work as a registered nurse; and with supervisory experience.
**Must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
**Must have an active driver's license
**Must be able to travel throughout the State and to national conferences, if requested
**Must be able to work evenings, nights, and/or weekends when the situation requires.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of principles of nursing and management processes.
Knowledge of the medical diagnosis and treatment of patient care using nursing diagnosis.
Knowledge of organization, planning and team building.
Knowledge of principles and practices of public health nursing.
Knowledge of human service management to include supervisory techniques, methods and standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing)
Experience:
1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to:
Lift/transfer patients to different positions.
Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.
Restrain clients for treatments, climb stairs to patient homes, drive long distances.
Travel throughout the state and to national conferences if requested.
Work evenings, nights and /or weekends when the situation requires it.

As a condition of employment, the successful applicant will be required to execute a release of personnel records to the director/board/commissioners in the county area involved on an as-needed basis. If found to be non-immune, vaccination will be required unless medically contraindicated.
Yearly influenza vaccination is also required, unless medically contraindicated.
A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
This position is located in the Public Health Nursing Section.
COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption is required as the position provides services in CMS-regulated facilities.

Current state employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been open to the public
One year of service in the position must be completed. Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay.
Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of (1) year from the promotion date.
Employees will only be eligible for (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
