CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

FULL-TIME | HUMMELSTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA

LOCATION SCHEDULE COMPENSATION Hummelstown, PA Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. $16.00 per hour

One-hour unpaid meal break each workday | Approximately 35 paid hours per week

ABOUT LAYNE'S CAREFUL CLEANERS

Layne's Careful Cleaners is a growing professional dry-cleaning, laundry, and garment-care company serving Central Pennsylvania. Our services include dry cleaning, professionally laundered shirts, wash-and-fold laundry, alterations, household-item cleaning, specialty garment care, and pickup and delivery.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a friendly, dependable, organized, and detail-oriented full-time Customer Service Representative for our Hummelstown location. This employee will welcome customers, receive and document garments, enter orders accurately into CleanCloud, process payments, retrieve completed orders, and help maintain an excellent customer experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet customers warmly and provide prompt, courteous, and professional service.

Receive dry-cleaning, laundry, shirt, alteration, and household-item orders.

Count garments carefully and inspect them for visible stains, damage, missing buttons, valuables, and special-care instructions.

Accurately enter customer information, garment details, requested services, pricing, special instructions, and promised dates into the CleanCloud point-of-sale system.

Tag and organize garments according to company procedures.

Retrieve completed orders promptly and verify that all items are present before releasing them to the customer.

Process cash, credit-card, and electronic payments accurately.

Answer telephone calls, text messages, and routine customer questions professionally.

Notify customers when orders are ready or when additional information is required.

Assist customers with pickup and delivery enrollment, recurring laundry services, alterations, and promotions.

Coordinate with production employees, tailors, drivers, and management regarding special orders or customer concerns.

Handle routine concerns calmly and refer complex complaints or claims to management.

Inspect completed orders for obvious quality concerns, proper packaging, and correct item count.

Keep the front counter, customer area, garment racks, supplies, and workstation clean and organized.

Assist with opening and closing procedures and follow company policies on privacy, customer property, safety, payments, and loss prevention.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong customer-service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Excellent attention to detail and the ability to count, document, and organize garments accurately.

Dependable, punctual, honest, responsible, and able to work with limited supervision.

Comfortable using computers, tablets, telephones, and point-of-sale systems.

Able to remain calm, respectful, and solution-oriented when addressing customer concerns.

Willing to learn garment @types, fabrics, stain risks, cleaning services, and alteration terminology.

Able to work cooperatively with production employees, tailors, drivers, and management.

Consistently available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, laundry, dry cleaning, tailoring, or another service-based business.

Experience using a cash register or point-of-sale system; familiarity with CleanCloud is a plus.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous dry-cleaning experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided to the right candidate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Stand and move around the store for extended periods.

Reach garment racks and handle hanging garments.

Bend, reach, lift, and perform repetitive garment-handling tasks safely.

Lift and carry laundry bags, garment bundles, or household items weighing approximately 25-40 pounds.

COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE

Hourly compensation $16.00 per hour Workdays Monday through Friday Work hours 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
