Manufacturing Lead - 1st Shift - $25/hr
Job Description
The Manufacturing Lead oversees day-to-day operations for a team of 15-20 manufacturing employees, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and customer-specific requirements are met. This role requires learning and understanding all manufacturing processes, value streams, and reporting requirements, while closely partnering with supervisors to achieve daily output goals and manage team performance.
Responsibilities
Learn and understand all manufacturing processes carried out by the team, including production steps, quality procedures, and reporting requirements for each product.
Monitor production loads and schedules to ensure the manufacturing team meets daily output goals and customer commitments.
Lead a team of 15-20 operators, providing clear direction, guidance, and support throughout each shift.
Collaborate closely with the supervisor to receive daily priorities and align the team's activities with production targets.
Partner with supervisors on performance management, including identifying issues that require escalation and resolving matters directly with team members when appropriate.
Manage responsibilities tied to specific customers and value streams, ensuring accurate reporting on each product and associated manufacturing and quality processes.
Work within an ERP system to support production tracking, reporting, and updates related to value streams and customer requirements.
Conduct one-on-one meetings with operators to review performance, provide feedback, and address concerns.
Lead team meetings with the manufacturing group to present updates, production status, and key information on projects and value streams.
Train new hires on manufacturing processes, quality steps, safety practices, and reporting expectations.
Prepare and maintain production and quality reports using Microsoft Excel, ensuring data accuracy for each value stream.
Create and deliver biweekly updates and presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint to communicate progress on new projects and ongoing production activities.
Support packaging and quality assurance activities as needed to ensure finished products meet required standards.
Use strong management skills to organize work, assign tasks, and maintain a productive and positive team environment.
Arrive early and stay after the scheduled shift as needed to complete daily reporting and documentation for all value streams.
Essential Skills
Proven experience as a manufacturing lead, including direct leadership of approximately 15 team members.
Strong production and supervision background with hands-on experience in manufacturing environments.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, including production flow, value streams, and quality steps.
Experience in packaging and quality assurance within a manufacturing setting.
Demonstrated management skills, including team leadership, performance oversight, and issue resolution.
Computer skills are an absolute must, with the ability to work confidently with digital tools and systems.
Daily proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, reporting, and analysis of production and quality metrics.
Daily proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for preparing and delivering project updates and biweekly presentations.
Ability to work in an ERP system to support production tracking, reporting, and updates.
Strong communication skills to lead meetings, conduct one-on-ones, and collaborate with supervisors and team members.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience performing updates in an ERP system is a nice-to-have qualification.
Experience working with multiple customers and value streams in a contract manufacturing environment.
Ability to learn new processes quickly and adapt to different products and projects.
Strong organizational skills for managing schedules, reports, and team activities.
Comfort presenting information to groups and explaining data and project status clearly.
Attention to detail when documenting production data, quality steps, and performance information.

Work Environment
This role operates in a manufacturing facility with a structured schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. You are expected to arrive approximately 15 minutes early and may need to stay 15-30 minutes after the shift to complete daily reports for each value stream, resulting in overtime on a regular basis. The environment involves working with production equipment, packaging areas, and quality assurance processes, supported by regular use of ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint for reporting and presentations. The workday is fast-paced and deadline-driven, with a focus on meeting production targets, maintaining quality standards, and collaborating closely with supervisors and team members.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
