We are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to provide dependable litigation support in our Chicago, Illinois office. This position works closely with attorneys and paralegals to keep matters organized, deadlines on track, and client service at a high standard. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, careful attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities:

Support litigation attorneys and paralegals with day-to-day administrative and case-related tasks, while remaining available to assist other legal teams when needed.

Prepare, format, and revise correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, and other legal documents using word processing and document management tools.

Track court dates and case deadlines, helping ensure filings, responses, and related materials are completed on time.

Submit documents through electronic court filing systems and assist with the preparation of filings for litigation matters.

Communicate with court staff, legal professionals, clients, and internal team members to gather information and address routine issues.

Process expense requests, invoices, reimbursements, and other administrative documentation accurately and promptly.

Organize, maintain, and close matter files in accordance with established records and information governance practices.

Handle sensitive legal and client information with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

Transcribe dictated material and assist with drafting documents related to hearings, depositions, and commercial litigation matters.

Requirements - At least 5 years of experience supporting litigation matters as a legal assistant in a law firm or similar legal setting.

Strong working knowledge of court procedures, litigation workflows, and the preparation of pleadings and related case documents.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Experience with electronic filing, calendar management, court filings, and scheduling depositions.

Familiarity with legal technology such as document management, scanning, timekeeping, or workflow platforms; experience with systems comparable to Kofax, Nuance, InTapp, iManage, or similar tools is preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate correspondence.

Ability to interpret detailed instructions, solve routine problems independently, and manage urgent requests effectively.

Additional education beyond high school or legal industry coursework is preferred, and flexibility to work beyond standard business hours when required.
