Job Title: Engineering Administrative Assistant
Job Description
The Engineering Administrative Assistant provides technical and administrative support to the sales and engineering teams, helping customers and internal stakeholders with product information, documentation, and coordination. This role bridges technical product knowledge with strong organizational and customer service skills, supporting business development, product training, and day-to-day operations in a professional office environment.
Responsibilities
Provide accurate technical information and assistance on a broad range of products to sales representatives, customers, and internal team members.
Record and maintain detailed records of customer contacts, inquiries, issues, and resolutions in an organized and accessible manner.
Communicate proactively with engineering teams regarding potential product issues, helping to identify root causes and support timely resolution.
Create clear, user-friendly product support documentation and technical support literature for internal and external use.
Assemble and organize sales data for analytical purposes, supporting business development initiatives and decision-making.
Attend trade shows to support product demonstrations, customer engagement, and brand representation.
Occasionally visit customer sites for installations or service situations to support technical and administrative needs.
Assist in conducting product-related training sessions for sales representatives and customers, ensuring they understand product features and applications.
Support company goals and objectives by contributing to process improvements and team initiatives.
Collaborate closely with other team members on day-to-day functions, ensuring smooth coordination and communication across departments.
Accept and effectively manage additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by leadership.
Essential Skills
Experience providing technical support or technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in agriculture or agribusiness; agricultural experience may substitute for a degree or other support experience.
Administrative support experience in a professional office environment.
Familiarity with collections and accounts receivable processes.
Exposure to or experience in manufacturing environments.
Ability to use or learn AutoCAD or similar technical drawing tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating documentation and interacting with customers and colleagues.
Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records of customer interactions and product issues.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Willingness to travel occasionally for trade shows and customer visits.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Agriculture or agribusiness experience is highly valued and can substitute for formal degree requirements.
Experience supporting sales teams with technical information and product documentation.
Comfort working with data and assembling sales information for analysis and business development.
Experience participating in or supporting product training sessions for customers or sales teams.
Interest in career growth into engineering, applications, or other technical roles within an organization.
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite office position with a consistent, structured schedule, typically 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role is not hybrid, and expectations around onsite presence are clear and upfront. The work takes place in a professional office environment, with access to technical tools and systems needed for product support and documentation. The position includes occasional travel to trade shows and customer sites for installations or service-related activities. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carol Stream, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
