Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on the maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment and machinery across a multi-building metal stamping and fabrication operation. You will work primarily on 1st shift, supporting a variety of production lines by ensuring equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably. The position involves hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, as well as troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on a wide range of metalworking and finishing equipment.
Responsibilities
Maintain, repair, and install equipment and machinery throughout the plant to support continuous production.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to quickly identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Work on a variety of metal stamping and fabrication machinery, including punch presses, brake presses, turret presses, some CNC equipment, welding machines, and paint line systems.
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, requirements, and procedures to perform accurate maintenance and repairs.
Verify that equipment is operating properly after maintenance or repair and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
Follow all safety policies and procedures while performing maintenance tasks, including lockout/tagout and other safety protocols.
Maintain good housekeeping and sanitation practices in work areas, ensuring tools, parts, and equipment are organized and workspaces remain clean.
Report equipment issues, safety concerns, and recurring problems promptly to supervision for further action or support.
Support machinery moves, installations, and remodeling activities as equipment and lines are relocated within the facility.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the maintenance team and overall plant operations.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience as a maintenance technician working with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment issues and performing maintenance and repair on industrial machinery.
Experience maintaining and repairing metal stamping and fabrication equipment such as punch presses, brake presses, turret presses, and welding machines.
Ability to work with some CNC equipment, including performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of paint line systems and related maintenance activities.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical procedures.
Strong understanding of preventive maintenance practices and their application in a production environment.
Commitment to following all safety policies, procedures, and company guidelines.
Ability to maintain good housekeeping and sanitation practices in all work areas.
Capability to work 1st shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) with flexibility for 9-10 hour days as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a metal stamping or metal fabrication environment.
Experience supporting multiple @types of production equipment within a plant setting.
Comfort working in a growing facility undergoing remodeling and equipment relocation.
Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and collaborate with supervisors and team members.
Adaptability and willingness to perform other related duties as assigned to support operations.

Work Environment
The role is based in a metal stamping company that is actively growing and remodeling its operations. The facility includes four dedicated buildings-stamping, fabrication, paint/weld, and a distribution center-located along the same road, and equipment is being moved and reorganized as part of ongoing improvements. You will work primarily on 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with mechanics typically working 9-10 hour days depending on operational needs. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with regular exposure to metal stamping presses, fabrication machinery, welding equipment, CNC machines, and paint line systems. Safety procedures are emphasized, and maintaining clean, organized, and sanitary work areas is an integral part of the job.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mundelein, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.
