Prepare, review, and study technical drawings, electrical schematics, and specifications to ensure that installations and designs comply with applicable standards, codes, and customer requirements.
Lead electrical design activities from conceptual phase through design completion, including equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, cable routing, communications systems design, grounding design, equipment selection, and equipment specifications.
Perform or be familiar with cable ampacity analysis and trench design using software packages such as CYMCAP, ETAP, or AmpCalc.
Model or be familiar with grounding system design using software packages such as WinIGS.
Conduct field surveys and review diagrams and other technical data to identify, analyze, and correct power system problems.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to discuss existing or potential construction and engineering projects.
Provide guidance to project teams to ensure that construction activities comply with design specifications, electrical codes, and customer requirements.
Inspect completed electrical installations to verify conformance to design intent, equipment specifications, and quality standards.
Compile technical data and prepare clear, comprehensive reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and related equipment to perform a wide range of electrical engineering tasks.
Provide electrical engineering support for complex projects with minimal oversight from team leadership.
Participate in customer and project interviews to support proposals, design decisions, and project planning.
Proactively guide Level 1 and Level 2 Engineers and Designers as they execute project-specific tasks or when other mentoring opportunities are identified.
Deliver training and share expertise with other technical personnel in key areas such as electrical design, PV systems, and engineering software tools.
Support requests for information (RFIs) and project documentation related to electrical engineering and PV design.
