Job Title: 1st Shift Laser Operator Job Description
The 1st Shift Laser Operator sets up and operates Bystronic fiber lasers and related equipment to manufacture conveyor system parts of various shapes and sizes using prints, standard work instructions, and 3D product models. This role collaborates closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure quality, efficiency, and project deadlines are consistently met in a fast-paced production environment, while maintaining laser machine optics and supporting general metal manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
Operate Bystronic fiber lasers and other production equipment as needed to manufacture conveyor system parts of different shapes and sizes.
Interpret and work from prints, standard work instructions, and 3D models to produce accurate parts that meet specifications.
Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure product quality, production efficiency, and adherence to project deadlines.
Perform routine maintenance on machine optics, including tape shots, focusing the lens, cleaning lenses and nozzles, and replacing lenses, nozzles, tips, and other supplies as required.
Assist in the operation of laser and waterjet cutting tables to support production needs.
Load assorted sheet and plate materials using various hoisting equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Monitor the operation of cutting equipment and make adjustments as needed to maintain optimal performance and cut quality.
Deburr, drill, and tap assorted parts to meet finishing and assembly requirements.
Use assorted measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specified tolerances.
Count, sort, label, and measure parts for accuracy and proper identification.
Perform in-process inspections to verify quality during production and prevent defects.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area to support safety and efficiency.
Work overtime as needed to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
Accept and perform other duties as assigned to support the overall manufacturing operation.
Essential Skills
0-2 years of laser operation experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
1-2 years of experience in metal manufacturing, machine operating, or general production.
Ability to operate CNC and laser cutting equipment safely and efficiently.
Proficiency in general machine operation within a production environment.
Ability to assist in the operation of laser and waterjet cutting tables.
Skill in loading sheet and plate materials using hoisting equipment.
Capability to deburr, drill, and tap assorted parts to specification.
Ability to use assorted measuring tools to verify part dimensions and accuracy.
Attention to detail for counting, sorting, labeling, and measuring parts correctly.
Competence in performing in-process inspections to ensure product quality.
Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production demands.

Work Environment
This role is based in a production facility on 1st shift, working Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The environment is fast-paced and focused on metal manufacturing, with regular use of Bystronic fiber lasers, waterjet cutting tables, hoisting equipment for loading sheet and plate, and assorted measuring tools. The workspace emphasizes cleanliness and organization, supporting safe and efficient operations throughout the shift.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
