Job Description
This role supports a large, construction project in Lenoir, NC by performing a wide range of physical labor and site support activities. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized jobsite, including directing pedestrian traffic, assisting with general construction tasks, and supporting site logistics. The position involves extensive time on your feet, frequent overtime, and working in both indoor and outdoor construction environments.
Responsibilities
Stand for extended periods to direct pedestrian traffic safely across jobsite walkways using stop/slow signage.
Support general construction requirements including temporary structure setup, signage installation, construction cleanup, pressure washing, and other miscellaneous tasks requested by site leadership.
Perform physical labor to assist with jobsite clean-up, rough carpentry, site logistics, fencing, deck and platform building, protection systems, and construction waste area setup and maintenance.
Review jobsite needs with supervisors and superintendents to fully understand scopes of work, plans, and specifications for assigned tasks.
Inventory supplies and communicate re-stocking needs to appropriate personnel.
Help ensure trade employees, subcontractors, and vendors follow site standards, safety codes, and regulations.
Read and follow work instructions, project signage, and safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers.
Inspect tools and equipment prior to use to confirm they are safe and in proper working condition.
Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans and follow all safety expectations when operating equipment and tools.
Select appropriate equipment for each task and adhere to safety protocols while performing work.
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times as required.
Perform selected demolition activities as directed.
Participate in and coordinate activities with subcontractors and suppliers when needed.
Review the project perimeter daily for security and cleanliness and participate in end-of-day clean-up activities.
Perform fire watch duties and construct scaffolding as needed under guidance.
Manage dumpster vendor schedules and maintain dumpster areas for cleanliness and organization.
Act as a spotter for heavy equipment operators to promote safe operations.
Ensure security of equipment and work areas while conducting operations.
Identify, communicate, and escalate problems or issues to a supervisor for timely resolution.
Track production and completion of assigned tasks to support project progress reporting.
Assist other craft workers in their trades as directed to support overall project needs.
Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and coworkers.
Perform other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned to support successful project delivery.
Essential Skills
At least 6 months of construction experience in a commercial or industrial environment.
Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding labor throughout the workday.
Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure accurately.
Experience using basic hand tools and common power tools safely.
Basic carpentry skills, including assisting with rough carpentry and simple structural tasks.
Ability to work safely around concrete and general construction materials.
Strong understanding of and adherence to construction safety practices, including PPE use and following safety instructions.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, project signage, and equipment manufacturer guidelines.
Reliability and willingness to work significant overtime, including up to 7 days per week when required.
Effective communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, coworkers, subcontractors, and vendors.
Ability to maintain focus while performing repetitive tasks such as directing pedestrian traffic.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with site logistics, including fencing, deck and platform building, and protection systems.
Familiarity with construction cleanup activities such as pressure washing and debris removal.
Experience participating in Pre-Task Plans and other structured safety programs.
Ability to assist with demolition work under supervision.
Comfort working as a spotter for heavy equipment and supporting equipment operators.
Experience managing or coordinating waste disposal areas and dumpster schedules.
Demonstrated ability to maintain organized and clean workspaces on large construction projects.
Strong sense of teamwork, integrity, and commitment in daily operations.
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with diverse project stakeholders.

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
