Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a respected community-focused organization in Topsham, Maine. This permanent opportunity is well suited for a detail-oriented accounting candidate who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, supporting close activities, and contributing to a collaborative finance function. The position offers strong benefits and the chance to play a meaningful role in day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

Manage general ledger activity by recording and reviewing financial transactions to support accurate reporting.

Prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial data.

Assist with month-end closing tasks, including analysis of balances and resolution of variances.

Support audit preparation by organizing documentation and responding to financial information requests.

Contribute to grant-related accounting work when applicable, including tracking and reporting on designated funds.

Help ensure financial records comply with internal standards and established accounting practices. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field.

At least 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting.

Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts.

Working knowledge of month-end close procedures and financial statement support activities.

Familiarity with audit processes and preparing schedules or supporting documentation.

Experience with grant accounting is beneficial.

Proficiency with general ledger accounting software and related financial systems.
