Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade (OT), Regulations and Rulings (RR), which includes the Commercial and Trade Facilitation Division, Border Security and Trade Compliance Division and Regulations and Disclosure Law Division, located in Washington, DC. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Attorney-Advisor you will exercise professional judgment, initiative, and leadership while formulating, directing, coordinating, and overseeing RR programs and initiatives. This position starts at a salary of $169,279.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $197,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10). Qualifications Basic Requirement: You must provide supporting documentation in your application to show you are an active member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Experience: You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Drafting and reviewing complex legal rulings and regulatory documents for CBP programs within established deadlines to ensure technical and legal accuracy. Coordinating with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to analyze and interpret statutory and regulatory requirements for international trade matters. Advising senior leadership on policy and legal issues by preparing comprehensive legal memoranda and recommendations on proposed legislation and agency actions.
