Position Summary:

The Financial Aid Compliance Coordinator is responsible for supporting federal, state, and institutional financial aid compliance initiatives specifically around the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB ) changes within the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. The position will play a critical role in implementing and monitoring regulatory changes resulting from OBBB , and in ensuring the university remains compliant with all applicable federal financial aid regulations. Responsibilities include monitoring aid eligibility, conducting compliance reviews, analyzing student records, maintaining procedures, and assisting with relevant communications (website updates, student communications, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in financial aid counseling or in a higher education student service, or financial services related setting -- OR -- Associate's degree and three years of experience in financial aid counseling, in a higher education student services, or financial services related setting.

Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform under pressure with high accuracy.

Commitment to maintaining compliance, confidentiality and data integrity in accordance with FERPA , federal, state, and institutional aid policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated expertise in administering Title IV programs and interpreting federal and state regulations.

Strong analytical and decision-making skills, especially in applying professional judgment and reviewing aid eligibility.

Experience with enterprise systems (e.g., Colleague, Banner, Regent, COD , NSLDS , FPP ).

NASFAA credentials or other professional certification in financial aid.

Knowledge of Michigan financial aid programs.

Experience developing and delivering training or policy guidance.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance and Program Administration:

Assists with implementation of regulatory changes, including provisions established through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB ).

Develops, documents, and maintains policies, procedures, and operational workflows to ensure compliance with federal regulations.

Conduct compliance reviews of student records and aid awards to identify and resolve potential regulatory issues.

Monitors compliance with federal loan eligibility requirements, annual and aggregate borrowing limits, and other Title IV regulations.

Researches regulatory guidance and provides recommendations to leadership regarding implementation and compliance requirements.

Loan Eligibility Monitoring and Review:

Monitors student loan eligibility and borrowing limits.

Reviews and monitors Parent PLUS Loan annual and aggregate limits.

Monitors grandfathered ("legacy") student populations and ensure compliance with applicable federal provisions.

Reviews enrollment status changes and evaluate impacts on federal aid eligibility.

Utilizing reporting tools, monitors and performs loan proration calculations for students enrolled less than full-time.

Identifies, researches, and resolves discrepancies affecting aid eligibility and compliance.

Communication development:

Prepares communications and training materials related to regulatory changes and compliance initiatives.

Develops student communications on changes and impact.

Further develops the OSFA websites regarding OBBB changes.
