Summary About the Position: The work involves planning and carrying out the testing program, coordinating the work with other laboratory sections, and interpreting policy in terms of established objectives and forensic requirements. Responsible for determining qualitative level of a given drug in an individual sample, differentiating a non-negative sample from a negative sample, and obtaining quantitative results for validity tests. Responsibilities Perform a wide range of standard drug tests within compliance and regulations. Maintain, calibrate, and use equipment required for standard tests. Determine the qualitative level of a given drug in an individual sample. Prepare laboratory reports and written procedures on analytical techniques and equipment calibration and maintenance requirements. Receive work assignments, determine tests to be conducted, and set up schedules to expedite assignments. Write procedures on analytical techniques used in testing. Specialized Experience GS 08: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing analysis of urine using automated clinical analyzers AND, 2) using instrument software to capture data and or report results, AND 3) performing instrument maintenance. OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position such as physics, geophysics, chemistry, hydrology, health physics, and/or laboratory science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education (directly related to the occupation) and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
