This role leads construction projects from pre-award through closeout, overseeing all aspects of performance including budget, schedule, scope, safety, and quality. The Construction Project Manager develops and maintains project schedules, coordinates internal and external stakeholders, and ensures that field execution aligns with the project plan. This position plays a key role in pricing and proposals, financial tracking, subcontractor management, and project documentation, with a strong focus on federal government projects and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all aspects of construction project performance, including budget, schedule, scope, safety, and quality, to ensure successful delivery and client satisfaction.
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed construction schedules, ensuring adequate office and field resources are available as needed to meet project milestones.
Collaborate with estimating and marketing teams to develop project pricing, proposals, schedules, and subcontractor buyout strategies during design and pre-award phases.
Review plans and specifications to identify conflicts, omissions, or missing information and coordinate with the client and design team to resolve issues and obtain clarifications.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams, proactively managing communication and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct regular site visits to evaluate construction progress, safety practices, and quality of work, and collaborate with superintendents to ensure field execution aligns with the project plan.
Track and manage the financial health of projects, including forecasting, profitability analysis, pay applications, and monthly reporting, while ensuring timely and accurate use of project management systems.
Respond to requests for proposals, prepare and price change orders, manage scope modifications, and ensure timely integration of changes into project documentation, budgets, and schedules.
Solicit, evaluate, and manage subcontractor and supplier proposals, and maintain a vendor database tailored to project locations and specific project needs.
Maintain accurate and organized project files, lead progress meetings, issue clear and timely meeting minutes, and manage project closeout and warranty processes.
Supervise, mentor, and develop project engineers and assistant project managers, and provide guidance to project coordinators, administrative staff, or interns as required.
Travel to and from job sites as needed to support field operations and maintain strong oversight of project activities.
Operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company as an essential function of the role to visit job sites and attend project-related meetings.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hands-on experience supervising trade construction activities on active job sites.
Project experience working with federal government entities such as USACE, VA, GSA, USDA, Air Force, or similar agencies.
Experience in project scheduling, including creating construction schedules from start to finish.
Strong knowledge and experience with construction project accounting fundamentals, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
Demonstrated experience in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.
Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
OSHA-30 Certification.
Ability to travel to job sites and operate a motor vehicle as part of regular job duties.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry is preferred.
Experience managing construction projects for federal agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), General Services Administration (GSA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Air Force.
Background in federal construction and government contracting environments.
Experience working on projects with agencies such as USACE, VA, GSA, USDA, and Air Force, including familiarity with their processes and standards.
Strong collaboration skills with estimating and marketing teams for pricing, proposals, and subcontractor buyout strategies.
Ability to identify and resolve design conflicts or missing information through coordination with clients and design teams.
Proficiency in leading progress meetings, documenting meeting minutes, and managing project closeout and warranty processes.
Experience maintaining and leveraging a vendor database for subcontractors and suppliers aligned with project locations and requirements.
Work Environment
The role operates in a dynamic construction environment that combines office-based project management with regular visits to active job sites. You will work closely with field superintendents, trade contractors, and internal project teams to monitor progress, safety, and quality. The position involves frequent coordination with federal government stakeholders and participation in meetings related to design, pricing, and project execution. You will use project management systems for scheduling, budgeting, documentation, and reporting, and you will travel to and from job sites as needed, operating a motor vehicle as an essential part of the job. The work setting requires adherence to construction safety standards and OSHA-30 guidelines, particularly when on-site.

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
