Work Environment
This role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility that uses automated production equipment to make airbag inflators. The environment is highly safety-focused due to the presence of explosives, and strict rules apply to items brought on site: lighters, matches, cigarettes, chewing tobacco, vape pens, and e-cigarettes are not allowed inside the facility and must remain in personal vehicles. Work is performed entirely on foot, as there are no sitting work areas, and involves continuous standing, walking, and material handling throughout the shift. The standard shifts include 1st shift (6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.). The first workday is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on a Tuesday for onboarding, after which employees transition to their designated shift. Regular schedules are Monday through Friday; however, the facility currently operates with significant overtime, requiring employees to work 6-7 days per week. For extended overtime periods, rotating schedules are used, with six days on and two consecutive days off, and days off may fall on any day of the week, including rotating weekends, to provide equitable access to weekend time off.
