The Psychology Department is actively seeking a candidate to support the current department and to support the development of two new professional psychology graduate programs within Harpur College.
Harpur College is seeking an individual to join the Psychology Department as an Operations and Finance Manager. This position will initially support the current Operations and Finance manager of the Psychology department while actively participate in the and be part of the initiation of a new department within Harpur College, Counseling and Applied Psychology. Over time, the core responsibilities of this will increasingly shift toward managing the operations and financial infrastructure of this new department. This department will be home to the proposed professional master's level graduate programs in mental health counseling and applied psychology and behavior analysis. These programs are in development to meet workforce demands, provide increased opportunities to undergraduate students pursuing professional careers, and positively impact the community. This dynamic position requires critical thinking, the ability to accept and provide effective and professional feedback, flexibility, and high levels of independence. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Financial Stewardship
Assist with managing various Departmental financial accounts and funding sources, track revenues/expenses, funds transfers, assist with budgeting
Assist with updating the monthly financial database. Utilize Business Intelligence platforms for reporting
Assist with purchasing for the department
HR paperwork processing
Academic Coordination
Assist with curricular planning for the department, including course scheduling logistics
Assist in academic and business proposal development, coordination and execution with close consultation with team
Oversee and coordinate with faculty recruitment and hiring process for new faculty and staff
Serve as representative of master's programs and department to administrative units within Harpur College and the university
Manage schedules for department and program meetings, including scheduling rooms, taking minutes, and follows up on delegated action items
Process travel and expense reports
Assist in the development of annual reports and site preparation for program accreditation
Maintain records and assist in annual, necessary accreditation documents and related files
Collate and organize information relevant to proposals, external reviews, hiring proposals, licensure and accreditation
Coordinate travel, meetings, and hiring processes, if needed
Manage departmental space, equipment, facilities and technology matters
Communication and Events
Coordinate special event programs
Maintain excellent and responsive communication with relevant parties in meetings, email, and phone
Assist in the drafting and revision of documents, which may/may not include memos, reports, budget narratives, policy and procedure manuals, etc.
Maintain contacts with campus offices to support initiatives and working collegially with all constituents and relevant parties within and outside of the university
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) by August 1, 2026
2+ years of professional experience
Experience with computer software, i.e. office products, email, online calendar management, database management, etc.
Ability to effectively, professionally, and tactfully interact and communicate, both orally and in writing, with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and visitors
Effective organization skills and attention to detail
Creative and independent problem-solving skills
Preferred:
Master's degree
Professional experience in higher education
Experience with professional graduate programs
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
High comfort level with budgeting systems
