Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Description
The Medical Assistant supports a busy outpatient sports medicine practice by ensuring exam rooms are fully prepared, patient charts are organized, and visits run smoothly and efficiently. This role focuses on room readiness, chart preparation, confirmation of vitals, and coordination of imaging so the physician can deliver high-quality care to a high volume of patients each day.
Responsibilities
Prepare exam rooms each day so they are fully stocked and ready before the physician begins seeing patients.
Complete chart preparation the night before, including reviewing the Athena schedule and organizing all necessary documentation for the next day's visits.
Ensure x-ray discs and other imaging are loaded and ready in advance so the physician can review them quickly during patient encounters.
Confirm patient vitals and related information in the chart, ensuring accuracy and completeness (without independently taking or interpreting the vitals).
Assist with room turnover between visits to maintain a fast-paced, efficient patient flow throughout the day.
Support outpatient sports medicine care for patients with sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations, tendonitis, bursitis, concussions, overuse injuries, arthritis, and post-surgical rehabilitation needs.
Provide professional, courteous customer service to patients of all ages, helping them feel comfortable and informed during their visit.
Collaborate closely with nursing and other medical assistants in the practice, contributing to an organized and team-oriented environment.
Adapt to a high-volume schedule that may include up to 100 patient visits in a single day, maintaining accuracy and composure.
Demonstrate a proactive, "yes" mindset by volunteering help, responding positively to requests, and supporting the team wherever needed.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential with an accredited diploma from a medical assistant school.
Experience in medical assisting tasks such as chart preparation, room stocking, and supporting outpatient clinical workflows.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with patients.
Comfort working in a sports medicine practice and managing fast-paced office visits.
Ability to handle high patient volumes while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
Hardworking, reliable work ethic with a positive, team-focused attitude.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ideally 2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient or similar healthcare environment.
Experience as an outpatient care technician or medical assistant is highly valued.
Calm, mellow personality that works well within a highly organized, close-knit team.
Strong organizational skills to manage schedules, charts, and room readiness in a busy practice.
Ability to collaborate effectively with nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical staff.
Comfort working with patients who have musculoskeletal injuries, arthritis, and rehabilitation needs.
Work Environment
This role is based in an outpatient sports medicine practice that primarily treats patients with sprains and strains, fractures and dislocations, tendonitis and bursitis, concussions and head injuries, overuse injuries such as shin splints or stress fractures, arthritis and joint pain, and rehabilitation needs after surgery or injury. The practice serves a diverse patient population, including active individuals and older adults seeking injury prevention and arthritis management. The environment is fast-paced and highly organized, with the potential to support up to 100 patient visits in a day. You will work closely with a sports medicine surgeon, nurses, and other medical assistants in a collaborative clinical setting that values efficiency, professionalism, and strong teamwork. The schedule is full-time and guaranteed at 40 hours per week, with hours generally structured as 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Monday; 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Tuesday; 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday; 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Thursday; and 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Friday, all at the Bridgewater location. Thursday hours may be adjusted to ensure a consistent 40-hour workweek. The setting is professional clinical attire appropriate for an outpatient medical practice.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $28.00/hr.
