Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Research Nurse who will play a crucial role in the activation and management of clinical trial protocols. This position requires collaboration with various departments to ensure the safe, effective, and patient-oriented conduct of clinical trials. The ideal candidate will contribute significantly to the research team by providing protocol-related clinical management and serving as a resource on research topics.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Protocol Activation office to initiate and activate all new clinical trial protocols using the Oncore Study-start up task list.
Prepare and review study tools such as study binders, medication diaries, eligibility checklists, and flow sheets.
Verify Scientific Review Board (SRB), Institutional Review Board (IRB), data collection plans, and finance/contract approvals before study activation.
Review protocols and collect multidisciplinary feedback to identify and resolve obstacles to study conduct in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
Facilitate one-on-one or group protocol-related nursing education for other disciplines.
Translate finalized protocol treatment plans into sample orders.
Collaborate with the clinical research team for timely prescreening of potential subjects for clinical trials.
Review patient charts and medical history to confirm protocol eligibility and obtain necessary source documents.
Follow informed consent processes to ensure IRB-approved consent has been obtained and documented.
Provide back-up support for registering consented research patients and inputting data into the OnCore® clinical trials database.
Serve as a resource for Clinical Trial Billing Information related to assigned studies.
Identify and communicate challenges in protocol adherence to the study team and supervisor.
Ensure accurate execution of protocol-specific orders and coordinate continuity of protocol-specified procedures.
Manage patient reimbursement while on clinical trial, including the use of ClinCards.
Deliver high-quality oncology nursing care and coordinate with the clinical team to ensure adherence to protocol requirements.
Provide nursing assessments and documentation for protocol-specified visits.
Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely delivery of services and assist with monitoring visits and audits.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3-5 years of oncology nursing experience.
Registered Nurse license is required.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Experience in clinical research and oncology nursing.
Proficiency in computerized systems and software applications such as Word and Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Chemotherapy administration experience and certification is a plus.
Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN) preferred.
Certification as a Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) preferred.
Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Somerville, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
