Job Title: 2nd Shift Machine Operator/Quality Tester
Job Description
The 2nd Shift Machine Operator/Quality Tester plays a key role in the manufacturing mechanical units by safely operating hand and power tools, overhead cranes, and semi-automated equipment. This position is responsible for loading and unloading metal plates and products throughout the production process, following standardized procedures, and using touchscreen computer systems to access work orders and operate machinery. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement within a modern, climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Safely operate hand and power tools, overhead cranes, and production equipment
Load and unload metal plates on and off machines and ovens throughout the manufacturing process.
Use touchscreen computer systems to access work orders and operate overhead cranes and production equipment correctly.
Set up and run machines according to work orders, ensuring proper operation and product quality.
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and comply with safety requirements at all times.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, and gloves.
Report safety, quality, equipment, or material issues promptly to leadership.
Participate in daily production meetings and continuous improvement activities.
Support 5S initiatives by maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
Cross-train in multiple manufacturing processes and assist with process improvements as needed.
Assemble heat exchangers using hand and power tools and support the transition to a semi-automated assembly line.
Stop the production process when safety, quality, or environmental deviations are identified.
Highlight problems and deviations and take initiative to drive problem resolution and improvement activities.
Communicate effectively with support functions such as Quality, Maintenance, Order Planning, and Warehouse.
Perform assembly, production support, and shipping/warehouse functions as operations expand and responsibilities vary.
Handle materials, stocking, and picking tasks to support production and outbound shipments.
Essential Skills
2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment working with machines, equipment, and jigs.
Ability to safely use hand and power tools in an assembly and production setting.
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanically inclined tasks.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, manufacturing orders, and related documentation.
Intermediate computer skills, including use of touchscreen systems to access and follow work orders.
Experience with assembly operations, including metal and copper assembly, piping, and brazing.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift (Sunday-Thursday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM).
Attention to safety and quality, with the confidence to stop production in case of deviations.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with production leadership and support functions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in higher-level assemblies, particularly with electrical-mechanical components.
Experience in quality assurance, maintenance, or similar technical roles is welcome.
Familiarity with troubleshooting production equipment and processes.
Experience with outbound shipments and warehouse or shipping functions.
Comfort working with copper, piping, and brazing in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to support 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
Willingness to cross-train and learn multiple manufacturing processes.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility on 2nd shift, working Sunday through Thursday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. The department is expanding with new equipment and an additional shift schedule, and responsibilities may span assembly, production support, and shipping/warehouse functions. The warehouse is located adjacent to the production area, enabling close collaboration between teams. Employees are required to wear steel-toe shoes, long pants, and a plain T-shirt; safety glasses are provided, and gloves are part of the required PPE. The facility features an onsite restaurant offering made-to-order breakfast and lunch daily, and the overall environment emphasizes safety, organization, and a strong team-oriented culture.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.75 - $20.75/hr.
