Summary You will serve as an ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC in the LIFTING AND HANDLING DEPARTMENT, CRANE MAINTENANCE DIVISION of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, modify, and test complex electronic industrial control systems and related devices used to control industrial machinery, support equipment, environmental systems, and process operations. You will diagnose system failures involving interrelationships among electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components and controls. You will update or annotate local maintenance records or work documentation as required by shop practice. You will perform operational, functional, and performance testing after installation, repair, calibration, or modification to verify proper operation of the control system and integration with connected equipment/processes. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. 1. Experience in interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, technical procedures, and computer logic circuits to relay work instructions. 2. Experience in determining various @types of requisitioning tools, materials, and equipment needed for projects. 3. Experience in updating or annotating local maintenance work records or work documentation as required. 4. Experience in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, modifying, and testing complex electronic industrial control systems and related devices used to control industrial machinery, support equipment, environmental systems, and process operations.
