Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Project Engineer to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of manufacturing programs from early product development through production ramp. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and program leadership teams to ensure complex hardware systems are delivered on schedule, within budget, and with scalable, production-ready manufacturing processes.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical manufacturing expertise with exceptional project execution skills to drive manufacturing readiness, mitigate program risks, and support successful product realization.

Pay Rate: $40-$50/hour
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary manufacturing project liaison between Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management to align project scope, schedules, and deliverables.
Develop and manage integrated manufacturing project plans, including milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables from proto@type development through production launch.
Lead manufacturing readiness planning and assessments (MRL/MRA), ensuring development of production processes, tooling, supply chain capabilities, and manufacturing systems.
Coordinate and facilitate cross-functional build readiness reviews to ensure materials, tooling, work instructions, and test capabilities are established for each build phase.
Identify, assess, and mitigate manufacturing risks related to schedule, cost, quality, yield, and supply chain constraints.
Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to incorporate Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFx) principles throughout product development.
Support production ramp activities, including pilot builds, process validation, yield improvement initiatives, and cycle time reduction efforts.
Track, analyze, and communicate key program performance metrics, including schedule adherence, throughput, yield, and manufacturing readiness status.
Lead structured root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives for manufacturing issues impacting quality, delivery, or production performance.
Ensure effective management of manufacturing data, documentation, engineering changes, and product configurations within PLM systems.
Partner with Supply Chain teams on make-versus-buy decisions, supplier readiness activities, and lead-time management.
Drive execution of tooling, fixturing, facility, and workforce readiness plans necessary to achieve production goals.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Project Engineering, Program Management, or related roles supporting complex hardware systems.
Experience working within industries such as aerospace, electronics, photonics, cryogenics, advanced manufacturing, or similar technical environments.
Demonstrated success managing cross-functional engineering or manufacturing programs involving multiple stakeholders.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production ramps, and hardware product development lifecycles.
Experience using project planning and scheduling tools to manage risks, timelines, and deliverables.
Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to lead structured problem-solving efforts and root cause analysis activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting proto@type-to-production transitions in fast-paced development environments.
Familiarity with Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) and Manufacturing Readiness Assessment (MRA) frameworks.
Experience coordinating pilot builds and production ramp activities.
Working knowledge of PLM systems, configuration management, and engineering change control processes.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience collaborating across Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain organizations.
Hands-on approach with the ability and willingness to work directly in development labs and production environments.
Strong ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and drive execution in dynamic environments.
