Job Title: Senior Superintendent
Job Description
The Senior Superintendent leads large-scale ground-up and renovation construction projects across a diverse portfolio that includes hospitality, multifamily, entertainment, healthcare, aviation, commercial, and high-rise work. This role oversees all field operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality. Responsibilities
Lead and manage field operations for large-scale general building and ground-up projects, typically ranging from $50M to $75M or more.
Oversee the execution of complex projects including large square-foot ground-up builds, high-rise renovations, hospitality and multifamily developments, entertainment facilities, and upcoming healthcare projects.
Coordinate daily site activities, including site walks, supervision of trades, and monitoring progress to ensure adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Use project management and construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, P6, and Microsoft Office to manage schedules, documentation, submittals, and lookahead plans.
Develop and maintain detailed lookahead schedules to anticipate and resolve potential issues before they impact project timelines.
Lead and participate in coordination meetings, project startup meetings, and foremen meetings to align all stakeholders on project goals, milestones, and responsibilities.
Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and company safety programs, leveraging OSHA 30 training to promote a culture of safety on site.
Direct and mentor project engineers and work in parallel with project managers to provide strong leadership and clear communication across the project team.
Collaborate closely with design, project management, and trade partners to resolve field challenges and maintain project momentum.
Review and manage submittals and other project documentation to support accurate and timely construction activities.
Maintain a strong presence on site, providing hands-on oversight and guidance to trades and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
Support the Chicago market as a key counterpart in the field, helping to drive successful project delivery and long-term client relationships.
Essential Skills
At least 15 years of experience in construction with a focus on general building and ground-up projects.
Proven track record managing large-scale projects valued at $50M to $75M or more, including at least two projects of this size.
Extensive on-site experience overseeing field operations and coordinating multiple trades on complex projects.
Proficiency with Procore for project management and field documentation.
Proficiency with Bluebeam for drawing review, markup, and coordination.
Experience using P6 for construction scheduling and lookahead planning.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, for reporting, documentation, and communication.
Experience managing submittals and other construction documentation in a fast-paced environment.
Background in aviation, commercial, hospitality, multifamily, entertainment, healthcare, or high-rise construction projects.
OSHA 30 certification and strong knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations.
Ability to lead and coordinate meetings with project teams, foremen, and trade partners.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to manage parallel responsibilities with project managers and direct reports.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management is preferred but not required.
Experience coming up through the trades is highly valued, with a strong understanding of field operations and trade coordination.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a meeting-centric environment with multiple stakeholders.
Experience supporting regional markets and collaborating closely with project management teams.

Work Environment
This role is based on site throughout the Chicago area, with no travel outside the region. The Senior Superintendent typically sits out of downtown Chicago and spends most of the time in a construction trailer or on-site project office. Standard work hours are approximately 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work (about once a month) for site coverage as needed. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with frequent site walks, coordination meetings, project startup meetings, and interaction with trades and foremen. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72.12 - $86.54/hr.
