This Electrical Controls Engineer role focuses on designing and developing electrical and control systems for a wide range of industrial and mobile hydraulic applications. You will take projects from initial concept through detailed design, assembly, testing, commissioning, and user training, including preparing part specifications and operating manuals. This position offers the opportunity to work in a close-knit engineering team, contribute to custom hydraulic solutions, and grow professionally while taking on diverse responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and test electrical control systems based on customer specifications, with a focus on industrial and mobile control applications.
Create detailed electrical schematics and control panel layouts that meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.
Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for each design project to support procurement and assembly activities.
Serve as a liaison with customers to clarify technical requirements, understand application needs, and align expectations.
Provide technical and functional guidance to other employees, supporting collaboration and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
Manage projects to maintain strong customer relationships while meeting schedule, quality, and cost targets.
Review customer specifications and ensure all designs conform to required standards and performance criteria.
Complete final project close-out activities, including updating documentation and developing clear, user-friendly manuals.
Perform control system testing and troubleshooting both in-house and in the field to ensure proper operation and resolve issues.
Develop or revise internal processes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering and company operations.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of experience in electrical control panel design.
Strong understanding of electrical schematic layouts and their application in industrial and mobile systems.
At least 2 years of experience with electrical and mobile control systems.
Hands-on experience working with PLC-based control systems, such as Beckhoff and similar platforms.
Proficiency with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical for creating schematics and panel layouts.
Experience working with HMI applications for control and monitoring of industrial or mobile equipment.
Ability to test, troubleshoot, and validate control systems both in-house and in the field.
Strong communication skills to effectively clarify customer needs and collaborate with internal teams.
Organizational and project management skills to meet schedule and cost targets while maintaining quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Hydraulics knowledge, particularly in relation to industrial and mobile hydraulic systems, is a plus.
Experience creating Bills of Materials and technical documentation, including user manuals.
Background in process improvement and developing or refining internal procedures.
Comfort working in a small, collaborative engineering team and taking on multiple responsibilities.
Work Environment
The role is based out of a modern office in Hamilton, Ohio, built in 2018, providing a clean and updated workspace. You will work closely with a team of approximately six engineers within a facility of around 44 employees, fostering a close-knit, family-oriented environment where colleagues support one another and employees are treated with respect. The setting encourages collaboration, professional growth, and the opportunity to wear multiple hats across the engineering and project lifecycle. Work typically involves office-based design activities using tools such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical, along with hands-on testing and troubleshooting of control systems in-house and occasionally in the field.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
