Job Description

This role supports the Accounting team by processing invoices, maintaining accurate vendor accounts, and ensuring timely payments. The Accounts Payable Clerk contributes to smooth daily accounting operations through careful data entry, reconciliation, and coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Review, code, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system accurately and in a timely manner.

Verify invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approvals before processing.

Process weekly check runs and electronic payments in accordance with established procedures.

Reconcile vendor statements regularly and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.

Respond promptly and professionally to vendor inquiries regarding invoices and payments.

Maintain organized, up-to-date, and accurate accounts payable records and documentation.

Assist with month-end closing activities, including reporting and reconciliation tasks.

Support the Accounting department with additional administrative and accounting tasks as needed.

Apply strong professionalism and attention to detail in all accounts payable and data entry activities.

Essential Skills

1+ years of accounts payable or accounting experience preferred, with 2-5 years of accounts payable experience noted as valuable.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office for day-to-day accounting and reporting tasks.

Experience working with accounting software, including ERP systems, is a plus.

Experience with Sage accounting software is preferred.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in invoice entry, data entry, and payment processing.

Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple invoices, deadlines, and priorities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team within an accounting environment.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Ability to handle invoices, invoice processing, invoicing, and payables with accuracy and consistency.

Demonstrated professionalism in communication and conduct.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.

Hands-on experience with ERP systems for accounts payable processing.

Prior experience reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies.

Comfort working in a large, team-oriented organization.

Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with colleagues and vendors.

This is a Contract position based out of Centerbrook, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
