THE POSITION
The Forensic Security Employee Trainee role at Torrance State Hospital offers a chance to build valuable skills while helping patients in a secure setting. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position follows a structured training program that teaches you how to support, monitor, and assist patients within the Regional Forensic Psychiatric Center. The role centers on learning patient care routines, security procedures, and methods for maintaining a therapeutic environment. As a Forensic Security Employee Trainee, you will perform the following duties:
Patient Support:Assist patients with daily living activities and encourage progress in treatment routines
Safety Monitoring:Observe patient areas and activities to maintain a secure and orderly environment
Basic Nursing Tasks:Carry out simple nursing procedures such as measuring vital signs and monitoring patient health information
Security Procedures:Perform rounds, screen visitors, inspect mail, and check facility areas according to policy
Emergency Response:Follow established procedures during drills, emergencies, and crisis situations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 3:00 PM to 1100 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work 10 out of 14 days in a two-week period.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Completion of the tenth school grade;or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
