Job Description
This role oversees the preparation, painting, foaming, and finishing of HVAC systems and components, ensuring high-quality, durable finishes in a clean, modern manufacturing environment. You design and implement painting systems and procedures, perform hands-on painting tasks, and contribute to continuous improvement while supporting and guiding less experienced painters.
Responsibilities
Design and develop painting systems and procedures for HVAC projects, selecting appropriate coatings for different materials and environments.
Oversee the preparation, painting, foaming, and finishing of HVAC systems and components, ensuring consistent, high-quality results.
Inspect HVAC components and systems to determine the best approach for painting, including surface preparation, coating selection, and application techniques.
Perform complex painting tasks, including intricate detailing, high-durability coatings, and protective finishes.
Manage and coordinate painting schedules to ensure timely completion of projects and effective use of resources.
Coach and mentor junior painters, providing guidance, training, and support to develop their technical skills and work habits.
Conduct quality control inspections to verify that finished surfaces meet aesthetic, functional, and durability requirements.
Ensure all painting work complies with company quality standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols.
Maintain and troubleshoot painting equipment, ensuring it remains in proper working condition and performing preventive maintenance as needed.
Stay current with new painting technologies, materials, and industry best practices, and implement improvements where appropriate.
Follow work instructions and collaborate closely with more experienced painters and other team members to complete projects efficiently.
Apply lean manufacturing principles by following established guidelines and providing continuous improvement suggestions to gain efficiency.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow safety procedures at all times in the paint shop and production areas.
Essential Skills
Experience working in a paint shop or similar environment where painting is performed daily, including the consistent use of a respirator and proper equipment maintenance.
Practical experience with automotive, truck, or boat painting, including paint preparation, masking, and spray gun application.
Ability to set up spray guns, mix paint correctly, and clean paint systems to keep sprayers operational in an automotive, truck, or boat spray setting.
Knowledge of painting techniques, coatings, and finishing processes, with strong attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality, durable finishes.
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications related to painting, coatings, and finishing requirements.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in an industrial painting environment.
Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental controls, and personal protective equipment requirements for industrial painting.
Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing portable ladders.
Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, including effective use of hands and arms for precise painting tasks.
Comfort working full-time with spray equipment, respirators, and other paint shop tools in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
0+ years of experience in painting; candidates with as little as 6 months or with 20+ years of experience are welcome, with hiring decisions based on demonstrated paint capability.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and a willingness to contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
Interest in staying up to date with new painting technologies, materials, and industry best practices.
Ability to coach and support less experienced painters is an asset for those interested in leadership growth.
Comfort working in a modern manufacturing facility that uses advanced equipment and technology.
Willingness to work a consistent first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Work Environment
This role is based in a modern, air-conditioned manufacturing facility equipped with state-of-the-art paint equipment and industry 4.0 technology. You work primarily in a paint shop environment where you paint daily, use spray guns and related systems, and wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, with strong adherence to environmental controls and PPE requirements. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with opportunities for voluntary overtime. The work is physically active and requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb portable ladders, lift and move up to 35 pounds, and perform tasks that demand good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination. You operate within a structured production environment that supports continuous improvement and efficient workflows while maintaining a comfortable, climate-controlled setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $40.00/hr.
