Responsibilities Major duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Performs water quality monitoring which includes deploying, maintaining, and retrieving water quality monitoring equipment. Assists in data analysis, preparation of reports and presentation of scientific information. Assists with the completion of resource management duties by conducting and documenting field observations of geologic and water resources, climate conditions, and fauna and flora. Qualifications All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/20/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience included the following: conducting research and sharing scientific information with individuals and groups of various understanding/education levels. Examples of qualifying specialized experience may include: Technician or aid in engineering, earth, physical, or natural science, forestry, soil conservation, or surveying; Trades or crafts work in maintenance or construction of facilities or equipment related to hydrology; Drafting and/or Construction estimating. You must include hours per week worked.-OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with (a) major study in an appropriate field of science, engineering, construction, or industrial technology, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, industrial technology, construction drafting, surveying, physical science, biology, or mathematics. You must include transcripts.-OR- COMBINATION: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. For example, 6 months of the specialized experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), and 3 years of college study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education) which included at least 12 semester hours of related coursework as specified above would be qualifying.
