Summary You will serve as a ELECTROMOTIVE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the Maintenance division of NAVAL AIR TERMINAL. Responsibilities You will test, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate various @types of complex electrically and mechanically controlled industrial equipment. You will perform and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders. You will provide electronic and technical assistance to solve problems. You will inspect all systems and components for condition and proper operation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Reassembling equipment after completing test and repairs; 2) Repairing terminal connections, steering assemblies, and test commutations when necessary; 3) Inspects electrical circuits for grounds, faulty wiring, and defects. The employee works in tiring, awkward, or uncomfortable positions for long periods of time. Work is performed on top of, under, and in tight compartments of vehicles. Frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, and crouching is required. Frequent lifting, handling, and carrying of parts and equipment weighing up to, and occasionally over, 40 pounds is required. Similar effort is exerted in pushing, pulling, and positioning heavy parts, assemblies, and equipment. May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. May be required to obtain/maintain a Category II Bridge Crane license to operate and provide maintenance support to the same. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may or may not be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may or may not be authorized.
