This position is part of the Government Secure and Intelligent Documents, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia Responsibilities Installs, maintains and repairs automated machinery and computer-controlled mechanical and electrical systems in industrial settings. Supports Building Automation and Manufacturing Systems by connecting Electrical Power Systems to the network and associated infrastructure, as well as troubleshooting and repair of system malfunctions. Disassembles tests, and inspects electronic components when troubleshooting and repairing systems. Performs root cause failure analysis to address and correct the issue causing the failure. Reads blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly of a part, machine, or piece of equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the Electronic Industrial Controls Technician, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element, Job Element #1 to be considered for this position. Applicants must have experience and training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties, which includes: -Working independently as an Electronic Industrial Controls Technician. -Dismantles, adjusts, repairs, and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches, or drawings -Disassemble, test, and inspects electronic components when troubleshooting and repairing systems. -Use test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. -Rebuild manufacturing equipment and perform equipment modification. -Verifies dimensions of parts, using precision measuring instruments, to ensure that specifications are met. In addition to the above Screenout the applicant must possess the following:REQUIRED CERTIFICATION(S): This position requires at least ONE of the following three Certifications: 1) Certification as an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic. 2) International Society of Automation (ISA) certification as Certified Control Systems Technician. 3) The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certificate in electrical power testing, industrial instrumentation, and other specialties. OPTIONAL:Although this position does not have an educational requirement; possession of the following supports knowledge of practical application, and is highly desired, but not required: Possesion of an Associate degree in an ABET-accredited program in one of the following fields: Electro-mechanics/mechatronics, Industrial maintenance, or Process control. Background Investigation: To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a Secret clearance.
