Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a hospitality organization in Escondido, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, accuracy in financial processing, and confidence managing high-volume payables activities. The person in this role will help maintain timely vendor payments, ensure invoice information is recorded correctly, and contribute to smooth day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

Review incoming invoices, assign accurate general ledger coding, and prepare items for processing in accordance with company procedures.

Handle accounts payable transactions from receipt through payment, ensuring deadlines are met and records remain complete and organized.

Process ACH payments and assist with scheduled check runs to support timely disbursement to vendors.

Verify invoice details, resolve discrepancies, and communicate with internal teams or suppliers to address payment-related questions.

Maintain clear documentation for payable activity and support accurate reconciliation of vendor accounts.

Monitor outstanding items and follow up as needed to prevent delays, duplicate payments, or coding errors. Requirements - Demonstrated experience working in accounts payable within a fast-paced business environment.

Practical knowledge of invoice review, account coding, and payment processing procedures.

Hands-on experience supporting ACH transactions and preparing check disbursements.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and maintain accurate financial records.

Effective communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
