Job Description
Mercury Systems is seeking the best and brightest talent to help us bring cutting edge technology to mission critical aerospace and defense applications, advancing innovation where it matters most. We're seeking an experienced and strategic Quality Manager to lead Mission Assurance and Quality operations across our West Caldwell, NJ, Saddle River, NJ, and Huntsville, AL manufacturing sites.
In this highly visible leadership role, you will oversee a geographically distributed team of Quality Engineers and Inspectors while driving consistency across our Mission Assurance organization. You will establish quality strategies, strengthen Quality Management Systems, and ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and aerospace industry requirements. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations, you will champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and improve operational performance. This role also serves as the primary quality representative during customer engagements, regulatory audits, and executive-level reviews. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who combines strategic vision with hands-on problem-solving to drive operational excellence across multiple manufacturing sites.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead Mission Assurance and Quality operations across multiple manufacturing sites, providing leadership, coaching, and development for Quality Engineers, Inspectors, and Quality professionals
Develop and execute quality strategies that ensure compliance with customer requirements, AS9100 standards, and applicable aerospace and defense regulations
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework, cost of poor quality, and manufacturing variation through data-driven decision making
Lead internal, customer, regulatory, and audits, ensuring audit readiness and timely resolution of findings and corrective actions.
Oversee Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, ensuring effective containment, corrective actions, and long-term preventive solutions
Establish, standardize, and optimize Quality Management System (QMS) processes to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability across all supported sites
Lead Material Review Board (MRB) and Failure Review Board (FRB) activities
Develop and present quality metrics, performance dashboards, and executive-level reports to support business objectives and operational decision making
Serve as the primary quality representative during customer visits, government audits, and regulatory engagements.
Manage supplier quality activities, including Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), supplier performance, and quality improvement initiatives
Travel up to 30-40% travel across West Caldwell, Saddle River, and Huntsville sites, based on operational and customer needs
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related technical discipline
Typically requires 6+ years in lean manufacturing, and quality within the aerospace & defense industry
Demonstrated experience leading and developing geographically dispersed technical teams
Strong experience managing AS9100 Quality Management Systems and quality system implementation
Experience leading customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, including managing audit findings and corrective actions
Hands-on experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives
Strong understanding of IPC-610 and J standards
Experience supporting RF, microwave, microelectronics products

Preferred Qualifications
Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
ASQ CQE, CMQ/OE, and/or CQIA certifications
Experience with AS9145/APQP/PPAP methodologies
Agile PLM, Oracle, SharePoint, Aegis Factory Logix experience
