Responsibilities Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Constructs, tests, and maintains data architectures such as databases and large-scale processing systems. Builds and manages data pipelines to enable the efficient collection, storage, and processing of large datasets. Ensures that data is accessible and in a usable format for analysis, supporting data-driven decision-making. Combines, analyzes, and interprets large and/or complex data sets to develop data-driven organizational solutions. Conducts data extraction by using computer programing without preset specifications. Develops statistical software and computer programs to perform analysis of statistical data and findings. Perform analyses of business requirements and user needs. Collaborate with subject-matter experts to develop statistical and data analytics. Formulate and implement hypotheses and methods to address key challenges. Serve as a technical expert in data science, operations research, master data management, and data analytics. Apply analytical, statistical, mathematical, and econometric methods to advise on outcomes of proposed actions. For supervisory positions, you will perform a full range of supervisory duties, which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Assisting in the construction, testing, or maintenance of databases, data models, or data processing systems, by applying established methods and tools to support analytical activities and organizational decision-making. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Constructing, testing, or maintaining databases, data models, and large-scale or distributed data processing systems to enable reliable data accessibility, integration, and analysis in support of data-driven organizational decision-making. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Leading the design, development, testing, or modernization of enterprise-level data architectures to support analytical capabilities and strategic decision-making by architecting solutions, ensuring interoperability across organizational systems, and providing authoritative technical guidance on data infrastructure design and optimization. Education Basic Requirement: You must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree with a major in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. OR Have a combination of education and experience equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) equivalent to one of the majors shown above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
