Job Overview
The Finance Manager (a one-year renewable term position) performs complex financial functions requiring advanced knowledge of university policies, external regulations, and financial systems. This position is responsible for managing and analyzing the financial operations of the Prisons and Justice Initiative (PJI), including budgets, forecasts, grant compliance, and financial reporting. The role conducts financial analyses and prepares recommendations to support strategic decision-making, ensure compliance, and improve financial processes. The Finance Manager serves as the primary financial resource for PJI and represents the unit in coordination with university financial offices.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Managing and monitoring program/organizational budgets and financial activity.
Preparing financial analyses, forecasts, and reports for leadership.
Ensuring compliance with university financial policies and sponsored project requirements.
Overseeing financial transactions and reconciliation processes.
Coordinating with university financial offices on complex financial matters.
Supporting financial planning and advising leadership on resource allocation.
Work Interactions
The Finance Manager reports to the Managing Director. This position works closely with PJI leadership, program staff, and central university offices including Main Campus and College Finance, Sponsored Projects Finance Office, Joint Office of Research Administration, and Payroll. The Finance Manager coordinates with university regarding complex financial matters and represents PJI in meetings related to financial operations, compliance, and budgeting.
Requirements and Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
3-5 years of professional experience in financial analysis, accounting, or financial management.
Demonstrated experience analyzing budgets, financial statements, and financial data.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, financial modeling).
Strong knowledge of financial systems, reporting, and compliance requirements.
Ability to interpret and apply institutional policies and financial regulations.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Workday financial systems.
Prior financial experience at Georgetown University or similar higher education environment.
Experience with sponsored project financial management, grant reporting, and compliance.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
