12-15 hours per week (up to 19 hours depending on workload) In office work required, Office Hours are 8:00am-5:00pm, working hours can be flexible within that time. Job Summary
The University of Utah Office of Alumni Relations is hiring an Alumni Engagement Intern to support the regional engagement and signature events programs. Reporting to the Manager, Alumni Chapters, this person will provide day-to-day administrative and operational support as it relates to the U Alumni regional chapters and alumni events. This role will collaborate with the entire Alumni Engagement Team to assist in proactively fostering relationships with University of Utah alumni as well as help create experiences for alumni to engage with the University of Utah. This role will work primarily with the Alumni Chapters team to prepare and execute regional events and programs, as well as support the Alumni Engagement Events Manager in executing local U Alumni signature events. All events this role may support includes but is not limited to: regional events/engagements (no travel required), local events/engagements, Homecoming, tailgates, graduation season, and more. The ideal student candidate is detail-oriented, timely and efficient, a self-starter, creative, and a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role requires proactive thinking, outgoingness, and willingness to try and learn. Candidates must be students currently enrolled at the University of Utah.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Weekly recurring tasks include: new chapter member mailer packets, chapters marketing and communications preparations, updating registration lists, distributing athletics tickets, data review and management tasks, and other administrative tasks necessary to the functions of alumni chapters.
Operational responsibilities may include: managing alumni event calendars, overseeing inventory and distribution of promotional materials, and preparing reports, and managing the U Alumni Chapters email inbox and Mongoose texting platform. Assistance with the planning and execution of local alumni engagement events.
Attendance will be required for events including, but not limited to: football tailgates, local alumni events, Founder's Day, Homecoming, Swoop Sprint 5K, and more. Scheduling and details will be provided with notice.
This role may involve compiling, organizing, and/or analyzing data related to alumni engagement and event metrics.
Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be current University of Utah students.
Preferences
The ideal student candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. They demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a creative, problem-solving mindset. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. This role is an in-office role and will require availability for occasional evenings and weekends. The role may involve lifting and transporting event materials. An interest in event planning, marketing, communications, or alumni relations is preferred.
