Summary The Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) serves as an advanced technician in outpatient care settings (primary care, mental health, specialty clinics) within the Department of Veterans Affairs. ICTs provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed personnel, supporting clinical operations at VA medical centers, community-based outpatient clinics. Responsibilities CTVHCS is in the process of making a cultural change, shifting from a disease-focused approach to a health and wellbeing approach, in order to implement the Whole Health System of Care. This is a VA-wide initiative to provide a comprehensive and systematic approach to improve healthcare delivery at all stages of Veteran care. This entails moving from an episodic, "siloed" approach to an interdisciplinary, holistic approach, emphasizing self-care in the larger @context of well-being. All staff in this facility will be part of this process, shifting the focus from the question, "What's the matter with you?" to the question, "What matters to you, and how can we help you live your best life?" This strategy also involves integrating a full range of conventional approaches with Complementary and Integrative Health (CIH) approaches in order to optimize lifelong health and well-being, as defined by the Veteran, rather than narrowly focusing on disease management.As an Intermediate Care Technician, you will: Provide advanced technical patient care in outpatient settings, including primary care, mental health, and specialty clinics. Perform patient screening, clinical assessments, and collect health histories. Assist with crisis intervention and behavioral/psychiatric situations. Support licensed staff with complex, specialized, and potentially life-threatening situations. Operate and maintain medical equipment; collect and prepare specimens for lab processing. Respond to emergencies, including performing CPR and using AEDs as needed. Accurately document care, interventions, and patient responses in electronic health records. Educate patients within scope of care and assist with follow-up. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with patients and staff. Experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the full range of technical patient care duties in outpatient clinical settings under the supervision of licensed staff. To qualify based on education at this grade level, you must have successfully completed one year of graduate education or an internship directly related to the position, from an accredited college or university.
