Responsibilities
Identify and implement opportunities to improve continuous improvement processes, practices, and results across site operations.
Ensure improvement projects accurately identify root causes and systemic issues, and resolve them using effective, data-driven countermeasures.
Partner with operations teams to implement solutions, verify that they deliver the intended results, and take appropriate corrective actions when outcomes do not meet expectations.
Identify and pursue synergies across projects, issues, and functional areas to maximize impact and efficiency.
Lead and facilitate continuous improvement and industrial engineering projects from definition through standardization of solutions.
Act as a role model leader with a positive mindset and strong drive to achieve both short-term and long-term operational goals.
Educate site employees on industrial engineering theory and application through project work, individual mentoring, formal classroom training, and other appropriate methods.
Collaborate with other industrial engineers internally and externally to share best practices and promote standardization of effective methods.
Perform all job duties in a safe manner, consistent with the Code of Ethics, organizational values, ISO standards, and applicable policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Design and develop manufacturing systems for new processes or revisions to existing processes in collaboration with other engineering disciplines, including cell layouts, ergonomic designs, labor utilization, and line balancing.
Establish operational methods and work standards using method analysis, time studies, work sampling, and delay studies to optimize performance.
Develop and implement operator standard work to increase productivity, reduce bottlenecks, and meet production needs, while creating opportunities for improved flow in manufacturing.
Analyze existing operations and propose improvements by studying people, machine, and equipment capacity, then determining and implementing actions to improve productivity through optimal use of floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment.
Perform complex capacity analyses in mixed-model manufacturing environments to support planning and decision-making.
Lead and participate in Kaizen events to establish optimal manufacturing processes, methods, and procedures that improve quality and cost effectiveness.
Provide technical assistance and expertise to manufacturing in problematic situations, driving data-based process improvements, implementing corrective actions, and delivering training as needed.
Evaluate, recommend, and participate in the selection of equipment for secondary operations, assembly, packing, and material handling, including preparation of capital appropriation requests for related projects.
Collaborate with Lean and Practical Process Improvement (PPI) teams to support implementation of 5S, lead-time reduction, one-piece flow, and optimal plant layouts.
Support Practical Process Improvement (PPI) and Cost Improvement Projects (CIP) as part of regular day-to-day operations.
Monitor adherence to recommended safety procedures and good housekeeping practices in manufacturing areas.
Establish and maintain manufacturing specifications, including standard work, routings, and related technical documentation and inputs.
Assist in planning new facilities and operations, contributing industrial engineering expertise to layout and process design.
Stay current on new process technologies and techniques, and apply relevant innovations to new and existing processes where appropriate.
Provide information, analysis, and recommendations to support various management systems and decision-making processes.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as needed to support operational and business objectives.
