Job Title: Depot Technician
Job Description
The Depot Technician performs routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on maintenance vehicles, vehicle lift systems, and overhead crane systems in a rail environment. This role focuses on inspecting, testing, adjusting, cleaning, lubricating, and repairing equipment in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, operations manuals, and manufacturers' maintenance instructions. The technician ensures equipment reliability and safety by identifying potential failures, responding to malfunctions, and documenting all work performed.
Responsibilities
Perform routine, preventive, and unscheduled maintenance on assigned maintenance vehicles, vehicle lift systems, and overhead crane systems.
Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures and take appropriate corrective actions.
Follow wiring diagrams, schematics, operations manuals, and manufacturers' maintenance instructions when performing maintenance and repairs.
Observe maintenance storage facilities equipment while in operation to detect abnormal conditions and locate causes of malfunction.
Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and complete assigned repairs to restore equipment to safe and reliable operation.
Use electronic test equipment and specialized power tools to diagnose issues and verify proper functioning of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
Clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment components to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment life.
Complete operational reports, equipment failure reports, safety reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
Adhere to safety procedures and best practices while working on maintenance vehicles, lift systems, and crane systems in a rail environment.
Collaborate with other technicians and staff to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize equipment downtime.
Essential Skills
Technical knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment.
Hands-on experience working with electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and operations manuals.
Proficiency in using electronic test equipment and specialized power tools.
Capability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on vehicles, lift systems, and overhead cranes.
Strong troubleshooting skills to locate causes of malfunction and implement effective repairs.
Attention to detail when inspecting equipment and completing required reports.
Commitment to working safely in an industrial rail environment.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience performing maintenance in a rail or similar industrial environment.
Familiarity with overhead crane systems and vehicle lift systems.
Ability to manage multiple maintenance tasks and prioritize work based on operational needs.
Strong communication skills for documenting work and reporting equipment issues.

Work Environment
This role is based in a rail maintenance environment, working directly with maintenance vehicles, vehicle lift systems, and overhead crane systems. The position follows a rotating shift schedule, with potential assignment to 1st shift (3:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.), 2nd shift (11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.), or 3rd shift (7:00 p.m. - 3:30 a.m.), on any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. The work involves industrial conditions typical of a rail facility, where adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire is essential.
