About Putnamville Correctional Facility:

Putnamville Correctional Facility is a medium-security facility in Greencastle, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 2,500 incarcerated adult males. Established in 1914, the facility has earned notable environmental and community service awards. Programming includes The Last Mile, which offers training in coding and multimedia production. Additional programs focus on education, parenting, and vocational development. Incarcerated individuals are encouraged to build skills that support re-entry success. Staff maintain a safe, structured environment focused on rehabilitation. Role Overview:

This position is responsible for the supervision of Fiscal, Warehouse, and Commissary operations at an adult correctional facility to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed.

Salary:

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records financial reports to assess compliance with procedural standards.

Maintain or examine the records of government agencies.

Advise the appointing authority and/or controller of the status of all accounts.

Develop policies and procedures for general accounting and bookkeeping.

Oversee usage of the computerized accounting system.

Establish work methods and control measures for accounting/bookkeeping functions.

Certify the accuracy of the agency's financial records and accounts.

Review reports for grant reconciliation for grant funded accounts.

Direct program staff in accounting matters relating to specific program funding.

Assist controller in budget preparation.

Seven (7) years full-time professional experience in accounting, auditing, or related experience.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

Extensive knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of public accounting.

Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, and procedures as they pertain to accounting and bookkeeping.

Extensive knowledge of agency organization, function, and purpose.

Extensive knowledge of automated accounting systems.

Ability to lead budget preparations.

Ability to direct the preparation and interpretation of complex financial statements and reports.

Ability to analyze and solve complex accounting problems.

Ability to develop new, or modify existing, accounting procedures and methods.

Effective communication skills.

A degree is not required.

Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
