About the Role:

The Assistant Chief Engineer plays a critical leadership role in supporting the Chief Engineer to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and safety of engineering systems within the organization. This position involves overseeing engineering projects, managing technical teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The Assistant Chief Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional departments to optimize engineering processes and implement innovative solutions that enhance operational performance. This role requires a strategic mindset to anticipate challenges, allocate resources effectively, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Ultimately, the Assistant Chief Engineer contributes significantly to the organization's technical excellence and operational success by providing expert guidance and leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).

Minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering experience, including supervisory responsibilities.

Strong knowledge of engineering principles, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Proven ability to manage engineering projects and lead technical teams effectively.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration.

Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.

Experience with advanced engineering software and project management tools.

Background in the specific industry relevant to the employer (e.g., manufacturing, utilities, transportation).

Demonstrated success in implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities:

Assist the Chief Engineer in planning, coordinating, and supervising engineering activities and projects.

Manage and mentor engineering staff to ensure high performance and professional development.

Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure all engineering systems comply with safety and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with other departments to integrate engineering solutions that support organizational goals.

Conduct technical evaluations, troubleshoot complex engineering issues, and implement corrective actions.

Prepare and review engineering reports, budgets, and documentation to support decision-making.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and safety.

Leadership and communication skills are essential for managing teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring clear dissemination of technical information.
