This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.
As a Student Worker Para Professional you will support MNIT's EEPMO (Enterprise Engagement Program Management Office) project and portfolio management functions on an administrative basis and provide administrative services to the Odyssey program. Responsibilities would include helping the EEPMO monitor a portfolio of projects and maintain organizational charts, etc. These activities support IT project managers, business analysts and managers working on a high-visibility IT project portfolio within MNIT. This could include working with staff on SharePoint updates, policy updates and other EEPMO administrative responsibilities. Other responsibilities may reside in MNIT's MMB project management office, to include helping MMB PMs keep project schedules updated, preparing presentation materials for project-related meetings, recording meeting minutes, etc. You will learn how a large, multi-faceted IT organization ooperates and understand some of the different roles within MNIT
This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last three (3) years.
This position is telework eligible for applicants who reside in Minnesota or in a bordering state, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance. If you live in a state bordering Minnesota, you must live within 50 miles of less from the primary work location to be eligible for telework. Education:
Student Worker Eligibility -
To be eligible for an appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional, you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
Experience:
Pursuing an information technology discipline as a freshman or sophomore.
Educational or practical experience with Microsoft O365.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong interest in IT and project management or business analysis theory, principles and practice.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware and Windows operating systems-including troubleshooting.
Interest in pursuing a career in IT project management, business analysis, quality assurance or similar roles.
Knowledge of SDLC principles and processes.
Skill in time management, attention to detail, and general problem-solving.
