Job Title: Industrial Painter
Job Description
This role focuses on structural and industrial painting in a busy fabrication shop environment. You will perform high-quality spray, roll, and brush painting on metal surfaces, including preparing materials, mixing paints, and maintaining painting equipment and booths. When not actively painting, you support general shop operations and help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
Responsibilities
Perform structural and industrial painting using spray gun, rolling, and brush techniques on metal and other materials.
Independently mix paints to required specifications, including color, viscosity, and finish, following product guidelines.
Prepare surfaces for painting by grinding, sanding, wire brushing, and other prep methods to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
Set up, operate, and maintain paint booths and related equipment to achieve consistent, high-quality results.
Change and replace paint booth filters as needed to maintain proper airflow and safe operating conditions.
Inspect finished work for coverage, finish quality, and adherence to specifications, making touch-ups or corrections as required.
Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, cleaning, and removing debris and waste materials.
Operate a forklift and other basic material-handling equipment to move parts and materials within the shop when needed.
Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
Collaborate with fabrication and shop teams to prioritize work, meet production schedules, and support overall shop efficiency.
Perform basic equipment checks and report any issues or maintenance needs to ensure safe and reliable operation of tools and machinery.
Essential Skills
Preferably 5+ years of experience in structural painting or industrial painting.
Proficiency with spray gun painting, including setup, operation, and cleaning.
Strong skills in rolling and brush painting on metal and structural components.
Hands-on experience mixing paints independently to meet specific job requirements.
Experience with surface preparation techniques such as grinding, sanding, and wire brushing.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment and stay on the move throughout the shift.
Ability to safely operate a forklift and handle materials in a shop setting.
Commitment to using personal protective equipment, including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
Attention to detail and ability to produce consistent, high-quality finishes on metal surfaces.
Reliability and willingness to perform both painting and general shop support tasks as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with auto body painting and refinishing.
Experience with metal painting in a fabrication or industrial setting.
in industrial paint applications, including large-scale or structural projects.
Familiarity with paint booths and their operation and maintenance.
Knowledge of powder coating processes is a plus.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a mechanical contracting or fabrication environment.
Strong work ethic and adaptability to changing priorities in a production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greensboro, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
