Ensures thedevelopmentofan individual care plan for eachpatient Assigns and prepares time schedules for staff to ensure adequate 24/7 nursingcoverage as defined by the hospital staffingsystem. Provides staff, patientand familymembersinstruction and educational case conferences to confirmcontinuity ofcareandcompliance with facility standardsand regulations. Evaluatesnursing activities by reviewing patientcharts,observing care, visiting patients/families to safeguard nursing care and treatment inaccordancewith physicians' instructions. Fosters highstandardsofcarethrough theprovisionofdiligentorientationandcontinuing educationeffortsofstaffincludingbestpractices, teamwork and professional development. Investigatescomplaintsbypatientsand others andattempts toresolvesuchcomplaints. Perform clinical tasks inadherenceto acceptablestandards of nursingpractice to ensure that the care providedis safeand effective; performthe duties as a chargenurse as necessary Orchestrates thetransfer of patients tootherhealth care facilities for emergency and routineservices as needed. Coordinates supplies and equipmentto ensureestablished inventorylevels;recommend tonursing administrationpurchase ofnewequipmenttoimproveand/ormaintainthequalityof patientcare Provides feedbackandperformance appraisalstoassigned staff;documentsstaff performance matters through progressive discipline whenappropriate.
