Work Arrangement:
This position follows a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of two days per week onsite in Evanston, IL. Candidates must be able to consistently meet the onsite requirement; exceptions will not be considered.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Security Analyst to support and enhance enterprise cybersecurity operations. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a security professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys taking ownership of critical security initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in vulnerability management, security monitoring, incident response, security automation, and overall risk reduction efforts.
This position requires a blend of strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills. The successful candidate will partner closely with infrastructure, systems, application, desktop support, and business teams to address security risks, coordinate remediation efforts, and support the organization's overall information security strategy. A curious mindset, collaborative approach, and commitment to continuous improvement are essential for success in this role.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
3-5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security operations, vulnerability management, or related information security functions.
Experience working with vulnerability management tools and remediation programs.
Hands-on experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms, including Microsoft Defender or similar technologies.
Experience investigating security events and supporting incident response activities.
Knowledge of security frameworks, industry standards, and cybersecurity best practices.
Understanding of Windows Server environments and enterprise IT infrastructure.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.
Key Responsibilities
Vulnerability Management
Lead enterprise vulnerability management efforts across servers, endpoints, applications, infrastructure, and cloud environments.
Review and analyze vulnerability assessment results, prioritize findings based on risk, and oversee remediation activities through resolution.
Partner with technology teams to ensure vulnerabilities are addressed within defined service-level objectives.
Develop dashboards, metrics, and reports to provide visibility into vulnerability trends, remediation progress, and risk reduction efforts.
Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to drive accountability and timely remediation.
Verify remediation activities and confirm security issues have been effectively resolved.
Security Operations & Monitoring
Administer and optimize Microsoft Defender and other security monitoring technologies across server and endpoint environments.
Monitor security alerts, investigate suspicious activity, and escalate incidents as appropriate.
Support incident response efforts, including triage, investigation, containment, recovery, and documentation.
Assist with threat identification and recommend mitigation strategies to reduce organizational risk.
Create and maintain operational procedures, security documentation, and response playbooks.
Security Automation & Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to automate routine security tasks, workflows, and alert management processes.
Design, implement, and maintain automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and response effectiveness.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to enhance monitoring, detection, and response capabilities.
Continuously evaluate and strengthen security controls, processes, and operational workflows.
Certificate Management
Oversee the lifecycle management of digital certificates throughout the organization.
Monitor certificate expiration schedules and coordinate renewals with system and application owners.
Maintain accurate inventories and documentation of certificates and related assets.
Proactively identify and resolve certificate-related risks and operational issues.
