Peckham Industries educates, innovates, and applies technology in a way that is safe, sustainable, inclusive, and profitable.Position DescriptionJob Summary:The Ground Person is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) plant. This role performs general labor duties, assists with plant maintenance, and ensures a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. Essential Functions: 1. Protect Family and Friends by following all Peckhams safety policies and procedures, performing daily workplace exams, working safely at all times (including at elevations), and arriving prepared with required PPE. 2. Safety always wins. Support safe and efficient plant operations by performing hands-on work, including material handling, shoveling, raking, operating equipment, and assisting with site activities 3. Results matter. Maintain continuous material flow and production by monitoring plant systems (belts, conveyors, aggregate flow) and communicating or addressing issues that could impact operations 4. Dedication. Prevent downtime and maintain a safe work environment by performing housekeeping and removing debris or material buildup from equipment and plant areas 5. Determined. Maximize plant uptime by supporting maintenance activities, including staging materials and tools, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs 6. Communicate. Support team coordination and equipment reliability by following direction, communicating effectively (radios, hand signals), and ensuring proper use and care of tools and equipmentPosition RequirementsRequirements, Education and Experience: 1. Experience operating heavy equipment strongly preferred. 2. Willingness to work variable shifts (days/nights), weekends, and overtime as needed. 3. High School Diploma or GED preferred 4. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and troubleshoot basic equipment or system issues 5. Strong communication skills with proficiency in verbal and written English 6. Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality in a fast-paced or labor-intensive environment 7. Commitment to safety and ability to consistently follow established policies, procedures, and instructions 8. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, take direction, and contribute to overall plant operations 9. Prior experience in construction, aggregates, asphalt, or a similar industrial environment preferred (but not required); loader operation experience is a plus. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn and be trained on equipment operation. 10. Valid drivers license and reliable transportation 11. Legal right to work in the U.S. Other Duties:
