WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager/Industrial Hygienist to work out of our Detroit, MI office.

The Project Manager/Industrial Hygienist will work as part of our US Postal Service (USPS) team providing technical and project management support to this key client.
Your Impact
Review scopes of work requests from client, subcontractor bid reviews and analysis, and preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
Manage projects (range of project sizes) through the full project life cycle upon award of task orders.
Subcontractor coordination, including preparation of quotes and requisition requests.
Project budget development and monitoring with adherence to cost and delivery contractual commitments.
Record and document significant verbal, telephone, and media communications related to projects and clients. Includes clear and precise record keeping meeting contract requirements and regulatory requirements.
Quality control, documentation and resolution of poor-quality work, repair, installation, or materials selection by general contractors, trade disciplines, and suppliers.
Change order control, including detailed knowledge of change and contractual requirements.
Interface with client contacts as required or defined for program.
Demonstrate overall project management skills in the management of integration/coordination of project elements, scope management, time management, cost management, quality assurance, managing changes in priorities and communication management in the generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and ultimate disposition of project information.
Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
Implementation of standards in compliance with USPS/WSP program requirements.
Job safety, monitoring, and compliance with WSP and USPS's safety, health and environmental (SH&E) requirements.
Compliance with all USPS/WSP applicable Environmental, Health and Safety requirements in the performance of the projects.
Types of buildings worked with include, but are not limited to post offices, mail processing facilities, and maintenance facilities.
Overnight travel is estimated to be to less than 10%.
Technical Duties:
Conduct regulatory research and communicate information within the client program, in support of the project management team and ensure compliant project execution.
Perform professional industrial hygiene work and conduct investigations, inspections, and environmental studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular environmental/occupational problem or issue, verify site characteristics, and/or to plan for future needs.
Project deliverable package preparation and submittal.
Interpretation or presentation of data to address, prevent, control, or restore environmental problems.
Provide environmental risk identification of high-level threat mitigation and permitting activities projects to minimize impacts to the health of the environment and the population.
Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a professional and constructive manner.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science or equivalent.
7+ years of relevant health/ industrial hygiene/ environmental experience.
Experience working with outside 3rd party vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Demonstrated success within the environmental and/or consulting industry.
Prior relevant project management experience is strongly preferred.
Ability to self-motivate with an entrepreneurial spirit. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, MS Project.
Ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of environmental, safety and health regulatory compliance. Negotiation and construction management experience/skills.
Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with technical disciplines.
Strong organizational skills.
Additionally beneficial skills also include ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, floor plans, shop drawings, specifications, and schedules as they relate to architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC equipment, & building structures.
Physical Demands
Must have the ability to work in varying environments (office, remote and field settings).
Must have ability/willingness to work occasional off hours (evenings and weekends) if project/client requires.
Ability to travel if required for work, with potential for overnight stays, or more and work flexible hours.
Must pass drug test, background check and company Motor Vehicle Record check.

Preferred Qualifications
NIOSH 582/582E trained Phase Contrast Microscopy analyst.
Previous asbestos and lead inspector and project monitor/planner licenses with current maintenance.
The ideal candidate will additionally have a working understanding of our key client, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), or similar union work force environments in terms of the performance and management of industrial hygiene, ACBM/LBP and other health and safety, and emergency response and preparedness projects
