Job Description
This role focuses on assembling mechanical and electro-mechanical products on the 2nd shift in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility. You will use hand and power tools, follow detailed documentation such as blueprints and bills of materials, and work with production systems to process work orders according to schedule. The position requires strong attention to safety and quality, the ability to interpret technical documents, and a willingness to support continuous production needs, including occasional overtime.
Responsibilities
Operate hand and power tools and other equipment common to the mechanical trade to perform assembly tasks safely and effectively.
Process work orders using computers, scanning devices, and related systems in alignment with the production schedule and any expedited orders.
Scan in and out of work orders using computers and scanning devices to accurately track time, progress, and completion of assignments.
Read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials, one-line diagrams, schematics, and other documents required to complete mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly assignments.
Gather all parts, components, and accessories required for the assembly process, ensuring accuracy and availability before and during production.
Assemble fabricated parts to build unit assemblies such as switchboards and lighting panels, as well as subassemblies, according to specifications.
Fasten component parts to cubicles, frames, subassemblies, or unit assemblies using appropriate tools and methods.
Connect cables and basic wiring, including point-to-point wiring, in accordance with diagrams and specifications.
Perform revolving assembly operations that include electronic, electro-mechanic, and mechanical assemblies or sub-assemblies as needed on the assembly line.
Organize and maintain personal hand stock, constantly monitor the availability of parts, and select appropriate parts or components according to specifications.
Use specific equipment and a range of specialized tools, ensuring they remain functional and properly maintained.
Verify that assembled units meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements, and adjust or replace parts when necessary.
Conduct visual checks and basic functionality or general quality test routines and procedures to ensure product quality.
Mark unit assemblies with identifying information and attach identifying tags as required for tracking and shipping.
Report non-conforming items such as parts, schematics, blueprints, or assemblies to the appropriate channels for corrective action.
Prepare finished units for shipping by packing, sealing, labeling, and performing any other required shipping preparations.
Clean and maintain equipment and the work area to ensure proper functioning, safe working conditions, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Access and utilize various documents associated with manufacturing, including quality and safety documents and operating instructions, using computers and related systems.
Assist in resolving routine manufacturing-related problems that affect daily operations, working collaboratively with others to maintain production flow.
Perform other related work as directed to support production, quality, and safety goals.
Essential Skills
Ability to operate hand tools and power tools commonly used in mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, bills of materials, one-line diagrams, schematics, and related technical documents.
Experience with mechanical assembly and electro-mechanical assembly in a production or assembly line environment.
Capability to perform basic wiring and point-to-point wiring, including connecting cables and basic wires according to diagrams.
Comfort using computers and scanning devices to process and track work orders and access manufacturing documentation.
Strong safety advocacy, including the ability to promote and maintain a safe work environment and identify, communicate, and eliminate hazards.
Quality orientation, with a focus on meeting or exceeding established standards and the ability to identify flaws and take corrective action.
Cooperative attitude, including willingness to assist others, offer guidance, and share knowledge to support team success.
Ability to work indoors on assigned shifts and occasionally lift heavy materials while wearing required safety equipment.
Willingness to work 2nd shift hours and support overtime requirements when needed to meet production demands.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with switchboard and lighting panel assembly or similar industrial products.
Ability to perform general quality test routines and visual inspections to verify product functionality and compliance.
Experience organizing personal hand stock and managing parts availability in a production setting.
Comfort working with loud equipment and in environments where bumps, cuts, scrapes, and strains are possible, while following safety protocols.
Willingness to learn and follow detailed operating instructions, quality procedures, and safety documentation.
Ability to assist in resolving routine manufacturing issues and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Work Environment
This position is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility, providing a comfortable indoor work setting. The role is on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM. Overtime is primarily voluntary, with a sign-up sheet posted one week in advance for those interested; if additional coverage is needed, some Saturdays may become mandatory to meet production requirements. You will work around loud noises and use common safety equipment such as cut-resistant gloves and sleeves, safety shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs. The environment involves working with mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical components, using hand and power tools, specialized equipment, and computer-based systems to access documents and process work orders, while maintaining clean and safe work areas.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
